Skin RejuvenationBy the time we are in our 30s most of us will exhibit skin changes from sun exposure and aging. Such changes include, rosacea, brown spots, freckles, age spots, blotchiness, dry or even leathery texture, not to mention wrinkling and sagging skin as collagen breaks down. Skin damage caused by the sun is known as photoaging. One of the best ways to assess how much photoaging you have is to compare the skin on your face to the skin on an area of your body that has had minimal sun exposure such as the side of the breast or buttock.
The pulsed light delivered by the ULTRA VPL is selectively absorbed by the pigmented spots and red areas in the epidermal layer of your skin. By heating the pigmented cells, they are destroyed and you will see your complexion clear, revealing more youthful looking skin within just a few treatments. It is important for you to protect your skin from further damage and sun exposure with effective sunscreens, which we can recommend to you. Procedure: The area being treated is first tested to determine the safest and most effective settings for you. When the pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation. Following the procedure, you may notice some initial reddening of the skin and brown spots may slightly darken. Over the next one to three weeks, the darkened spots fade and flake off as your complexion becomes clearer. Potential Side Effects: Mild erythema is common following the procedure and usually resolves with in a few hours. Rarely blistering and pigment changes may occur but are usually temporary. Recommended number of treatments: Generally, between four to six treatment sessions are required, although it depends upon the treatment type and the area being treated. A good 'rule-of-thumb' is to assume one treatment for each decade of a person's life. The number of treatment sessions may increase when treating darker skin types. Normally, these treatment sessions are carried out at three week intervals. Next Step: Book a complimentary consultation and or treatment by calling Specialty Care & Surgery Center at 707-279-8733. |
