VPL - Variable Pulse Light Laser Treatments

Spider veins and telangectasias are actually dilated or stretched blood vessels that may appear most commonly on the face or legs as a result of sun damage, excessive standing, weight gain, pregnancy and hereditary conditions. They respond readily to VPL therapy and the number of treatments needed depends on the type and number of veins to be treated. Typically, one or two treatments are needed for facial vessels; whereas, three or four treatments may be needed for leg veins. Treatment can be done every 6 weeks on the face, and every 3 months on the legs. Cherry hemangiomas (red dots on the body) can also be treated and usually only require one or two treatments.
The ULTRA VPL is a noninvasive light therapy device specifically designed to eliminate undesired blood vessels from all parts of the body. The light energy passes through the skin to the blood vessels where it selectively damages the lining of the target blood vessel without damaging the surrounding tissues and skin. The destroyed blood vessels are reabsorbed by the body, and the flow of blood is directed back down into the deeper vessels, where it belongs. Since laser vein removal does not break the skin, there is no need for bandages or support stockings. There is no down time and people are able to return to full activities immediately after treatment.
Procedure: The area being treated is first tested to determine the safest and most effective settings for you. You may feel a tingling or snapping sensation like a rubber band with each pulse of light. There is no bleeding or disruption of the skin. Small spider veins and facial telangectasias often disappear immediately. Occasionally some mild redness or swelling or bruising may occur, but generally fades quickly. There can also be increased or decreased pigment in the treated area which tends to resolve over a few months.

BOTOX® (Botox) Cosmetic is a purified protein of Botulinum Toxin Type A and has been FDA approved for the treatment of wrinkles since 2002, though it has been in use for several other conditions since the 1980’s. It is most commonly used to eliminate or reduce the frown lines between the eyebrows, the wrinkles in the forehead and crow’s feet around the eyes.
BOTOX® (Botox) works by a process known as cosmetic denervation in which impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that create wrinkling are blocked. Within a few days, the muscles treated begin to relax and maximal relaxation occurs within two weeks. The overlying skin remains smooth and wrinkles are dramatically softened, so you look years younger. We occasionally may need to do touch-ups if the desired result was not achieved. The effects wear off gradually but results typically last three to four months, depending on your unique muscle physiology, and many clients find their results last even longer with subsequent treatments.
Procedure: Please call to schedule an appointment at our center. During the actual procedure, we will use a very tiny needle to inject a precise amount of Botox into the area being treated. There is very little pain and no anesthesia is required, although we do like to apply ice to the area for a few seconds before and after for comfort. After your treatment you should use the facial muscles in the area treated and you should not rub any of the injection sites for at least two hours. You must also remain upright and no flying for at least four hours. Potential Side-Effects: Some clients may experience some slight bruising at the injection site which will go away in a few days and can be covered with make-up. Rarely patients may experience facial drooping which is undesirable. This is temporary and will resolve with time. Recommended treatment: We recommend a single treatment with maybe a touch up and then 3 to 4 month intervals for maximum results.
